MOF4Biogas. We are looking forward to collaborating with our partners TNO, Colsen and Procat Tech LLP along with the advisory board consisting of OCAP CO2 B.V. and InnovationQuarter for this project. Our goal is to develop the Small-scale CO2 Capture Process Technology for on-line separation of CO2 from biogas thereby upgrading it to biomethane, also known as bio-CNG or groen gas. The biogas stream has a high concentration of CO2 in the stream, making it suitable for Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) adsorbents with its high adsorption capacity for CO2.

Scalable Solutions for Small-Scale Biogas Small-scale CO₂ emitters like decentralized biogas plants face a major challenge: the lack of affordable, efficient carbon capture solutions. Traditional technologies are often too large, energy-intensive, or costly for these applications — leaving valuable CO₂ streams untapped. That’s where the MOF4Biogas project comes in. Together with CatOlyst BV, Colsen BV, and Procat Tech LLP, TNO is developing a compact, cost-effective CO₂ capture system using shaped metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) — advanced porous materials with exceptional potential for gas separation.
